Buckets and spades at the ready! Barry Island is the classic Welsh seaside day out, and it never fails to put a smile on everyone's face. Whitmore Bay has a wide, sandy, gently sloping beach that's perfect for building sandcastles, paddling and rock pooling. Along the promenade you'll find the pleasure park, amusements, crazy golf and colourful beach huts you can hire. Fancy somewhere quieter? Jackson's Bay is a lovely little cove, and walkers can head up to Nells Point and Friars Point for views over the Bristol Channel. And of course, it wouldn't be a trip to Barry Island without chips and an ice cream on the prom! Good to know: there are public toilets at both ends of the promenade, free changing rooms, outdoor showers and a Changing Places toilet. Beach wheelchairs can be hired, and lifeguards patrol in the season. Parking is at Barry Island car park and Harbour Road.
