Using Moochify

1. Who we are

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Moochify, and "you" means anyone who uses the site.

These terms sit alongside our Privacy policy and Cookie policy, which explain how we use your information.

2. What Moochify is

Moochify is an online directory of local events, places to visit, clubs, trades and venues for hire. Listings are added by organisers, businesses, community groups and members of the public.

Browsing, searching and sharing are free and do not need an account.

3. Your account

You need an account to save things, mark events Going or Interested, leave reviews, or add a listing.

• You must be 18 or over to have an account.
• The details you give us must be true and kept up to date.
• One person, one account. You must not create an account pretending to be someone else, or another business.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
• Do not share your account with anyone else, and do not try to get into anyone else's account.
• You must confirm your email address before you can save, review or add listings.
• You can change your username once in the first 7 days. After that it is fixed.
• Choose the right account type. Personal accounts are for finding and saving things to do. Business accounts are for businesses that list. Community groups and charities must be genuine, and we may ask for evidence such as a charity number.

You can delete your account at any time in your account settings.

4. Adding a listing

When you add an event, place, club, trade or venue, you promise that:

• you have the right to list it, or for a place such as a park or beach, you say honestly whether you own it or are adding it for the community
• everything in the listing is accurate, not misleading, and kept up to date
• you have permission to publish any contact details, including other people's names, phone numbers and email addresses
• the listing is lawful and suitable for a family audience
• the listing is in an area Moochify currently covers

How we check listings

• A real person checks every new listing before it goes live. This can take a little time.
• Changes to times, dates, prices and tags go live straight away. Changes to titles, locations, descriptions, contact details, links and photos are checked first, and your old details stay showing until then.
• We check for duplicates. If the same thing is already listed, we may decline yours.
• We may decline, edit, hide or remove any listing at any time if we think it breaks these terms, is inaccurate, is a duplicate, or is not suitable for Moochify. We will tell you when we do.
• Checking a listing does not mean we endorse it or guarantee it is accurate.

Events

• If your event is cancelled or changes, update or cancel the listing straight away. People who marked it Going or Interested are told.
• Repeated cancellations or upheld reports may lead to your account being reviewed and blocked from adding new listings.
• The "Verified organiser" badge shows only that an organiser has had an event approved with no problems reported. We can remove it at any time.

Trades

• You must hold every qualification, registration, licence and insurance the law requires for the work you offer, and keep them valid.
• Any registration number or insurance you declare must be genuine and your own. We may check it, ask for evidence, and remove your listing if it does not match.
• The order of trades is shuffled daily. We do not sell or promise a position.

Clubs

• You must answer the safeguarding questions truthfully. If your club works with children or adults at risk, you are responsible for having the right policies, checks and insurance in place.
• We email clubs once a year to confirm they are still running. Clubs that do not reply may be hidden.

Venues

• Venue listings must be renewed every 12 months. Listings that are not renewed are hidden.
• Bookings, deposits and hire agreements are between you and the hirer. Moochify does not take bookings.

Places

• If you own or manage a place someone else listed, use "This is my place" and we will look at handing the listing to you.

5. Photos and other content you post

You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions and reviews you post. By posting them, you give Moochify permission to show, copy, resize and share them on the site, in emails, in link previews and in our social media and promotion of Moochify, free of charge, for as long as they are on the site.

If we have already used your content to promote Moochify, for example in a social media post, we do not have to take that post down if you later remove the listing.

You must only upload photos you own or have permission to use, and you confirm this each time you upload. Anyone who can be recognised in a photo must have agreed to it being shared. For children, you need permission from a parent or guardian.

You can remove a listing or review you have posted at any time, and it will be taken off public view. We may keep a private record of it for our moderation history, for example in case of a dispute.

If someone claims your content breaks their rights and we have to deal with it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs where the claim is caused by what you posted.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on Moochify uses your work without permission, email hello@moochify.co.uk with a link to it and a short explanation. We will look at it promptly and remove it if the complaint is valid.

6. Reviews and reports

• Reviews must be your own honest experience of an event or place you actually went to.
• Do not review your own listing, a competitor's, or anything in return for payment or a reward.
• No abuse, threats, hate speech, personal details or accusations of crime in reviews.
• Anyone can report a listing or review. A moderator decides whether it stays. Do not make false or malicious reports.
• We look at every report, but we do not promise to remove everything that is reported.
• We can remove any review that breaks these rules.

7. Prices and payment

Everything on Moochify is free until 31 March 2027. From 1 April 2027, business listings are charged as shown below. Browsing is always free.

• Repeating events (weekly or monthly) cannot use the £5 option. They need a Standard or Plus plan.
• We email business listers 30 days before, 7 days before and on the day charging starts or a renewal is due.
• If a paid listing is not paid for, it is hidden until it is. Your paid period starts on the day you pay.
• If you list as a community group or charity when you are a business, we may change your account type, charge the correct price, or remove the listing.
• Payments are taken by card through our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
• At the point of payment we will tell you clearly whether a plan renews automatically, and how to cancel it.
• We may change our prices. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email, and a new price only applies from your next payment.

Cancelling and refunds

• You can cancel a plan or remove a listing at any time. It stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Payments are not refunded once a listing has gone live or a plan period has started, including if you remove the listing early or your event is cancelled.
• We will refund you in full if you paid twice by mistake, or if we decline your listing and it never goes live.
• If we close Moochify, or remove your listing when you have not broken these terms, we will refund the unused part of what you paid.
• If we remove your listing or suspend your account because you broke these terms, you are not entitled to a refund.

Paid listings are sold to businesses for business purposes. Nothing in these terms affects any legal rights you have that cannot be excluded.

8. Moochify is a directory

We list what other people tell us. We do not run the events, own the places, operate the clubs, employ the trades or manage the venues.

• Check before you go. Times, prices, access details and weather can change. Confirm with the organiser before travelling, especially for a long trip.
• Check before you hire. We do not vet, recommend or guarantee any trade, club or venue. Trades tell us about their own qualifications and insurance. Always check for yourself, for example on the Gas Safe Register for gas engineers.
• Check before you join. If a club is for children or adults at risk, ask the club about its safeguarding policy and checks. Our listing questions are answered by the club, not verified by us.
• Your agreement is with them. Any ticket, booking, membership, work or payment you agree is between you and the organiser, club, business or venue. Moochify is not part of that agreement and is not responsible for how it goes.
• Weather and maps are a guide. Forecasts, maps and directions come from other services, and map pins are placed by the people who add listings, so they may not be exact.
• Other websites. We link to sites we do not control, and we are not responsible for what is on them.

If you spot something wrong or worrying in a listing, please use the Report button so we can look at it.

9. What you must not do

You must not:

• post anything false, misleading, unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit or defamatory
• list anything illegal, or anything unsuitable for a family site
• post spam, pyramid schemes or listings that are really adverts for something else
• use Moochify to send spam, phishing messages or scams
• collect contact details from Moochify by automated means, or use them to send marketing people have not asked for
• copy, scrape or republish large parts of the site without our written permission
• try to get round our moderation, account limits or security, take apart the site's code, get access you are not allowed, or interfere with how the site works
• use Moochify to harass anyone, or to find or contact children inappropriately
• pretend to be another person, business or organisation

For serious breaches, we may report what happened to the police or other authorities.

10. Our responsibility to you

We will run Moochify with reasonable care. We do not promise the site will always be available, free of errors, or that any listing is accurate.

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says we cannot exclude.

Apart from that:

• We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by a listing, an organiser, a club, a trade, a venue or another user, or by you relying on information they provided.
• We are not responsible for events outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of our hosting provider.
• If you use Moochify as a consumer, we are only responsible for loss that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care.
• If you use Moochify for business, we are not liable for loss of profit, business, opportunity or goodwill, and we do not give refunds or compensation if the site is unavailable for a time. The only exception is if Moochify is offline for more than one month in a row and then closes for good: in that case we will refund the unused part of any fee you paid in advance, worked out pro rata, and that refund is the most we will be liable to you for.

Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

11. Suspending or closing accounts

We may warn you, block you from adding listings for a time, suspend your account or close it if you break these terms, if listings of yours are repeatedly cancelled or reported, or if we need to protect other users or the site.

We will tell you why, unless the law stops us. If you think we have got it wrong, email hello@moochify.co.uk and a different person will review the decision where we can.

12. Adverts and promoted listings

Adverts, featured listings and sponsored listings are always clearly labelled. Paying for an advert or promotion does not change how we moderate your listing, and does not mean we recommend you.

13. Our name, logo and site

The Moochify name, logo, design and the way the directory is put together belong to us. You may share links to listings freely. Please ask before using our name or logo for anything else.

14. Changes to the site and these terms

We may change, pause or remove parts of Moochify, and add new areas or features. We may also update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

We may take the site offline from time to time for maintenance or updates, and we will try to give notice when we can.

If a change affects paid listers in an important way, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.

16. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

If a court decides part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not act on a breach straight away, we can still act on it later.
