About this place

Belle Vue Park is Newport's Victorian gem, and it's a lovely spot for a gentle mooch whatever the season. Opened back in 1894, it still has all the charm of a classic Victorian park, with sweeping paths, rockeries, a restored bandstand and elegant glass conservatories. Plant lovers are in for a treat, as the park is home to some rare trees and shrubs. Look out for Himalayan magnolias flowering in early spring, Judas trees in May and a tulip tree in early summer, and come autumn the leaf colours are something special. Keep your eyes peeled for the Gorsedd Stone Circle too, put up for the National Eisteddfod in the 1890s. Fancy a cuppa? The tearooms in the pavilion serve food and drink with views across the park, perfect for a slice of cake after a wander. Good to know: entry is free. The car park is pay and display during the day, and buses along Cardiff Road stop right outside. You can get in from Cardiff Road, Belle Vue Lane and Waterloo Road.
