Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
Lavernock Road, Penarth, CF64 5UY
About this place
Cosmeston Lakes Country Park near Penarth is over 100 hectares of lakes, meadows and woodland, and it's one of the best family days out in the Vale. Stroll around the lakes and spot mute swans, mallards and great crested grebes, then wander through the meadows and woods. Kids will love the Curiosity Trail, with a totem listening point and a match-finder game hidden in the woods. Look out for the remains of a medieval dovecote in the Dovecot Fields, and don't miss the reconstructed Medieval Village for a step back in time. There's a children's play area, picnic benches, and a café for refreshments. It's dog friendly and a welcoming spot for cyclists too. Good to know: there are wheelchair-accessible paths around East Lake and to the Medieval Village, toilets (including an accessible toilet open 24 hours with a radar key) and accessible changing facilities during café hours.
