About this place

Want to see a kingfisher? Forest Farm, on the banks of the River Taff, is said to be one of the best places in the UK to spot one! This riverside nature reserve is full of woodland, meadows, ponds and marshland, and it's a haven for wildlife. Settle into one of the bird hides and see what flies by, then follow the path along the old Glamorganshire Canal. Don't miss the restored Melingriffith Water Pump, a fascinating bit of industrial history. The Taff Trail runs right through the reserve, so you can walk or cycle towards Cardiff city centre one way or Castell Coch the other. Good to know: the reserve is open 24 hours a day, every day. There are no public toilets, except on event days.
