Llantwit Major Beach
Colhugh Street, Llantwit Major, CF61 1RF
About this place
Llantwit Major Beach, also known as Cwm Colhuw, is a gorgeous stretch of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast that's popular with families and surfers alike. At low tide, the rock pools here are some of the best around, so grab a net and see what you can find! There's a sandy beach and dramatic layered cliffs, and the Cwm Colhuw Nature Reserve on the cliff tops is home to the Small Blue, Britain's smallest resident butterfly. Make a day of it by exploring Llantwit Major's independent shops and cafés, and visiting St Illtud's Church and the Galilee Chapel. Walkers can follow Vale Trail No. 3 to see more of the area. Good to know: the beach holds a Seaside Award. There's a seasonal dog ban, so check before bringing your four-legged friend.
