About this place

Parc Cwm Darran is a Green Flag country park in the Darran Valley with something for everyone, and it's a fantastic family day out. The park was created on the site of the old Ogilvie Colliery, and nature has well and truly taken over. Take a stroll along the lakeside path around Ogilvie Lake, follow woodland trails, or explore the wildflower meadows of Cwmllydrew Meadows Local Nature Reserve. Kids will love the playground and the "Ogilvie Olympics" assault course, and don't miss the Wild Boar Amphitheatre, a giant earth sculpture with a performance space, inspired by a Roman legion that once hunted in the valley. The Visitor Centre has leaflets and local advice, and the Lakeside Coffee Shop is perfect for a cuppa and a treat. Cyclists can follow National Cycle Network Route 469. Good to know: entry is free. There's fishing on the lake, plus picnic spots, toilets and accessible toilets.
