All aboard! The Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway is a heritage railway running right through the Blaenavon World Heritage Site, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, and it's a brilliant day out for little train fans and grown-ups alike. Steam and heritage diesel trains run at weekends and bank holidays from April to September, plus selected Wednesdays in the school holidays. Sit back and enjoy the views over this amazing industrial landscape as you chug along. The real magic is in the special events. Look out for family days with favourite characters, Halloween Ghost Trains, Santa's Magical Steam Train and even fish and chip trains. There's a railway shop and gift shop to browse too. Good to know: tickets are paid and can be booked online. Trains don't run every day, so check the timetable before you set off.
