About this place
Porthkerry Country Park is 220 acres of woodland and meadow in a sheltered valley that runs all the way down to the sea, and it's a cracking spot for a family day out. The first thing you'll notice is the huge railway viaduct, which has towered over the park since the 1890s. Follow one of the nature trails through the woods, have a kick-about on the open grass, and then head down to the pebble beach and cliffs at the bottom of the valley. It's a big favourite with dog walkers too. The kids can let off steam in the adventure play area, there are picnic tables near the main car park, and the café is perfect for a hot drink after a blustery walk. Good to know: there are toilets, including accessible toilets open 24 hours (radar key), ramps to the café and toilets, and a wheelchair-accessible route to the beach. A shared cycle path runs under the viaduct.
