Sugar Loaf and Usk Valley
Llanwenarth, Abergavenny, NP7 7LA
About this place
Lace up those boots! The Sugar Loaf is one of the most recognisable mountains around Abergavenny, and the views from the top are simply stunning, stretching right across South Wales. Cared for by the National Trust, the area around the Sugar Loaf and the Usk Valley is a walker's paradise. As well as the climb up the Sugar Loaf itself, you can try the Skirrid trail, the easy Clytha short circular, or the longer Clytha and Coed y Bwnydd walk past an ancient hillfort. There's open hillside, woodland and valley views wherever you go. Good to know: parking charges apply (free for National Trust members). The Llanwenarth car park is very small, so the National Trust suggests parking at Fairfield car park in Abergavenny (NP7 5SG). Dogs are welcome on short leads around livestock. There are no toilets on site and no wheelchair access.
