About this place
The Taff Trail is a 55-mile adventure from Cardiff Bay all the way to Brecon, and you can do as much or as little of it as you like! In Cardiff the trail starts at the Bay and follows the River Taff through Grangetown, Sophia Gardens, Pontcanna Fields, Hailey Park and Forest Farm, up to Tongwynlais near Castell Coch. This city stretch is fairly easy going, which makes it perfect for a family bike ride or a long walk. If you're feeling energetic, keep heading north through Pontypridd and Merthyr Tydfil towards the mountains, waterfalls and reservoirs of the Brecon Beacons. There are picnic spots along the route and plenty of cafés and shops close by. Good to know: the trail is free and suits both walkers and cyclists. You can hire bikes from Next Bike stands along the Cardiff section.
