About this place
Perched high above Monmouth, The Kymin is a little hilltop treasure with some of the best views in the Wye Valley. At the top you'll find two quirky Georgian buildings: the Round House, a castellated banqueting house (now holiday cottages), and the Naval Temple, built in the early 1800s to celebrate famous British admirals. Lord Nelson himself visited in 1802! Follow the one-mile Discover the Kymin walk in his footsteps, or just find a spot in the nine acres of pleasure grounds for a picnic and soak up the views. Nature spotters can look out for badgers, bats and even Britain's rarest ant, and the Offa's Dyke Path passes right by if you fancy a longer hike. Good to know: there's a National Trust car park with accessible spaces, and wheelchair access to the Round House and Naval Temple. There are no toilets. Dogs are welcome on short leads.
