Usk is a pretty little town that's perfect for a mooch, with a riverside to wander and a castle on the hill. Stroll along the banks of the River Usk and take in the views, then head up to Usk Castle, a privately looked-after family home where you can explore the beautiful ruins. Visitors love bringing a picnic, and there are woodland walks to enjoy too. Afterwards, pop into the town centre for its independent shops and cafés. Good to know: Usk Castle is open on Sundays and bank holiday Mondays from April to September, so check its website before you go.
